# Apple’s new iMac with M6 starts at £1,499 and arrives on 6 November

*Apple's new 24-inch iMac jumps from M4 to M6, adds Wi-Fi 7 and keeps seven colours. Pre-orders open 28 October from £1,499.*

Apple has announced a new 24-inch iMac with the M6 chip. It starts at £1,499, $1,499 and €1,829 in Ireland, pre-orders open on Wednesday 28 October in 35 countries and regions, and it arrives on Friday 6 November, according to Apple’s press release.

The design and the seven colours stay: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. The changes are inside, with a faster chip, Wi-Fi 7, faster storage and an optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port.

## What M6 brings

The iMac comes with up to a 12-core CPU and up to a 12-core GPU, two more cores each than before. Apple claims up to twice the graphics performance of the M4 iMac and up to five times faster on-device AI, thanks to Neural Accelerators in each GPU core and a new Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Compared with the most popular Intel-based iMac, Apple says it is up to 18 times faster.

Memory bandwidth goes up to 170GB/s, and Apple says the SSD is up to twice as fast for reading and writing. The iMac ships with macOS 27 and Siri AI, which Apple says is available in beta in macOS 27.2.

## Prices and availability

In the UK, the iMac with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU starts at £1,499, or £1,449 with education pricing. The 12-core model starts at £1,699, or £1,599 for education. In the US the same models cost $1,499 and $1,699 (Apple US). In Ireland they start at €1,829 and €2,029 (Apple Ireland), and in Germany at €1,799 and €1,999 including VAT (Apple Germany). UK and EU prices include VAT. US prices do not include sales tax.

Pre-orders open on Wednesday 28 October on apple.com and in the Apple Store app in 35 countries and regions, and the iMac arrives in stores on Friday 6 November.

## Why it matters

The iMac goes from M4 to M6 and skips a generation, so owners of M1 or Intel models get the biggest jump. Apple announced it by press release, together with a new base MacBook Pro, the day before its Pro and tell event on 28 October.
