How we use AI
Most news reports on Mac to Realityare written by our AI newsdesk, software we built and run, and are labelled “Mac to Reality Newsdesk”. Opinion is written by people and signed. Mac to Reality is editorially responsible for everything we publish.
What the newsdesk does
- It reads public sources, preferring the original: Apple's own pages, court filings, regulators, research firms and the outlet that found a story first.
- It writes a fact sheet of what is confirmed, what is reported and what is rumour, and who said it.
- It writes the article only from that fact sheet, in our house style, and links every source.
Checks before anything is published
- No reused wording from any source, and quotes checked against the source text.
- Links only to the actual sources; a story needs an original source, not only rewrites.
- A check that we have not already covered the story, that dates are right (no “today” for old news) and that rumours are worded as rumours.
What a human reviews
- Every story that fails a check, or has too little substance, is held as a draft until the editor approves it.
- Some kinds are always held for approval: analysis pieces, review roundups and “what to expect” previews.
- The editor monitors what the newsdesk publishes and corrects or removes articles where needed. Corrections are listed on our corrections page.
Labels
AI-assisted articles say so at the end of the article and in our feeds. Photos are credited to their source; where no licensed photo is available we use a generated title card.
