Apple has made iOS 27.0.1 the prominent software update for iPhone users still on iOS 26. From 8 October, iOS 27.0.1 appears at the top of Settings → General → Software Update, while iOS 26.7.1 has moved to a smaller “Also Available” section, MacRumors spotted.

The change reverses the previous ordering, which showed iOS 26.7 and iOS 26.7.1 prominently and listed iOS 27 and iOS 27.0.1 under “Also Available”. Apple swapped the two to nudge iOS 26 users towards iOS 27. It is not forcing anyone to upgrade; it still recommends installing iOS 26.7.1 to receive the latest security fixes, and that release remains the most recent security-only update for the iOS 26 series.

iOS 27 originally shipped on 14 September. Apple has not published any adoption figures for it, and has not said how many iPhones remain on iOS 26. Whether Apple will adjust the ordering again is unclear. Earlier this month, AT&T said iOS 27.0.1 will fix iPhone 18 Pro Max problems; users have disputed that claim.
