Apple is rumoured to announce a partnership with home security firm ADT alongside its upcoming smart home hub, according to MacRumors’ own reporting. Apple has invited media to a ‘Welcome home’ event in New York City on Tuesday, 13 October, where the collaboration could be revealed.
Since July 2026, ADT has posted ‘Low Voltage Technician’ job listings across several US cities. Hired technicians have received few details about their duties and are mainly shadowing existing staff. Some new employees and their managers signed a non-disclosure agreement tied to the role, and ADT issued them iPhones for work — unlike other ADT technicians who use Android devices. ADT plans to share more about the role later in October, potentially aligning with Apple’s hub announcement.
The hub is expected to run Siri AI, manage smart home accessories, monitor security, show photo galleries and calendars, play music, and handle FaceTime video calls. Two designs are said to be planned: one that sits on a speaker base and one that mounts on a wall. Apple is also expected to introduce third-party smart home accessories developed with partners including LG. Some new ADT hires were told their work involves home automation and in-home installation, hinting that Apple could offer professional installation by ADT for the wall-mounted hub or LG gear.
ADT has had a home security partnership with Google since 2023, but dropped some features on Google Nest devices earlier in 2026. People familiar with the matter told MacRumors that ADT’s agreement with Google has either already expired in 2026 or will expire in 2027 and is not being renewed, which could open the door for a deal with Apple. It remains unclear whether an Apple-ADT partnership would include home security monitoring or whether ADT would be the exclusive installer for the wall-mounted hub. The long-rumoured hub has reportedly faced multiple delays tied to Siri AI readiness, with the revamped Siri launching in September 2026.
