Apple expects its second-generation MacBook Neo to ship roughly 16 million units in 2027, nearly double the volume it forecast for the original model this year, according to supply-chain sources cited by DigiTimes.
The new MacBook Neo is expected to launch in the first half of 2027. Rumoured features, reported by AppleInsider, include an A19 processor, 12GB of memory and an expanded colour range, though Apple has not confirmed any specifications.
The original MacBook Neo arrived in March 2026 and quickly became Apple’s most successful Mac for first-time buyers. Apple doubled production in May 2026 to meet demand, and the device helped the company post a 13 per cent year-over-year shipment increase in the second quarter of 2026 while the broader PC market declined. Former CEO Tim Cook called it “best launch week ever for first-time Mac customers”. (Mac to Reality covered Apple’s market-share gains earlier this year.)
It is not yet clear whether the 2027 forecast includes only the second-generation MacBook Neo or all MacBook Neo models sold that year. The exact 2026 shipment figure is also uncertain, with sources citing both “nearly 8 million” and “8 million” units.
