On 13 October, Apple TV+ released the trailer for 12 12 12, its eight-part heist drama starring Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan, and confirmed a 13 November premiere. Apple TV Press’s Apple TV Press reported that the first two episodes arrive globally on Friday, 13 November, with one new episode weekly through 25 December.

Mackie plays a disgraced FBI agent and Dornan an American career criminal in a cat-and-mouse chase around Europe, built on a bank vault raid beneath Zurich. Each episode moves between three stretches: the year spent planning, the 12 hours of the robbery and the 12 days that follow.

The cast also includes Jack Kesy, Agathe Rousselle, Sallie Harmsen, José Garcia and Kali Reis. Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble created the series and executive produce; Kari Skogland, who directed the pilot and other episodes, also executive produces. Mackie executive produces through his Make It With Gravy banner, working with Samantha Corbin-Miller, David Knoller and Jason Spire of Inspire Entertainment. Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content produce.

Why it matters

Apple says its original films, documentaries and series have won 919 awards and 3,829 nominations since Apple TV+ launched on 1 November 2019. In our view, a star-led heist drama rolling out weekly is a proven way to hold subscribers through the holidays, and the 13 November start positions 12 12 12 as a centrepiece of Apple’s end-of-year slate.
