Bee Network passengers in Greater Manchester can now buy bus and tram tickets directly in Apple Wallet and store them on a digital Bee Card, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) announced on 6 October. TfGM says it makes Greater Manchester the first place in the UK where people can buy bus and tram tickets directly in Apple Wallet.

The first Apple Wallet integration earlier this year was limited to Our Pass, the travel card that gives 16- to 18-year-olds free bus travel and half-price tram fares. The Bee Card now opens Wallet ticket purchases to Apple users of all ages.

Which tickets are available

Eight adult and family tickets can be bought in Wallet: 1-day Bee Bus, 1-day Bee Bus Family (off-peak), 7-day Bee Bus, Weekend Tram, 7-day Tram, Weekend Tram Family, 1-day Bus + Tram and 7-day Bus + Tram, with the tram tickets covering all zones.

How to add a Bee Card

Adding the card requires iOS 27. Open Apple Wallet, tap the plus (+) button, select Travel Card and choose Bee Network, then pick a ticket to buy. Riders then tap an iPhone or Apple Watch on the reader on the bus or at the tram platform. With Express Mode enabled, there is no need to wake or unlock the device; Express Mode requires iPhone XR or later or Apple Watch Series 6 or later, and only one digital Bee Card can use it at a time.

Passengers who prefer the Bee Network’s Tap and Go system can still pay with a credit or debit card in Apple Wallet, and tickets remain on sale in the Bee Network app.
