iOS 27 adds a full-featured slideshow creation tool to the Photos app and upgrades iCloud Shared Albums with full-resolution sharing and cross-platform participation, 9to5Mac reports.
The slideshow tool lets users select any set of photos or videos, then customize transitions, duration, music, and auto-looping. Completed slideshows can be saved as video files, a significant upgrade over the rudimentary memories-only option previously available.
iCloud Shared Albums gain the ability to share full-resolution photos and videos—previously shared items were compressed. Users can now react with any emoji, and new permission settings give more control over participation. For the first time, Android and Windows users can add photos to a shared album, widening the feature’s appeal.
9to5Mac notes the upgrades arrive in time for Apple’s forthcoming HomePad device, but it’s unclear whether the features are in a beta or final release of iOS 27. The report also does not specify if iPadOS or macOS Photos will receive the same tools.
