Apple’s stores in Bordeaux and Lille were looted on Saturday 17 October as nationwide protests in France turned violent, according to local reports from Actu Bordeaux and Actu Lille.

In Bordeaux, the Apple Store on rue Sainte-Catherine, the city’s main shopping street, was among the 50 to 100 shops targeted by looters in the city centre, Actu Bordeaux reported. In Lille, the Apple Store was looted and the town hall was also targeted on the sidelines of the demonstration, Actu Lille reported.

According to AppleInsider, the Bordeaux store was hit first and the Lille store was ransacked several hours later. The protests drew around 600,000 demonstrators, and Hermès and Louis Vuitton shops were also looted, the report said.

It is unclear whether Apple has commented, whether police made arrests or how much stock was stolen. Neither report gave a figure for the damage to either store or mentioned any injuries.
