The next entry-level iPad is rumoured to ship with an A19 chip, 8GB of memory, and Wi-Fi 7 support, with a launch expected in spring 2027. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman first reported the timeframe, according to 9to5Mac.

A leak from MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris indicates the chip will be A19 rather than the A18 rumoured earlier. The iPad will also include an N1 networking chip and a C1X modem on cellular variants, enabling Wi-Fi 7. The 8GB of memory will let the device support Apple Intelligence through Siri, but it will not run the most capable local models, which require 12GB.

The current entry-level iPad (A16) lacks Apple Intelligence and has not been updated in over a year. Apple raised its price to $449 last summer. The delay of the next model is speculated to be due to a memory crisis hitting the electronics industry.

The final name of the device has not been confirmed; speculation includes “iPad SE” or “iPad Neo.” The exact release date is also unknown.
