Apple is selling its fourth-generation Siri Remote separately for £59 in the UK, $59 in the US and €69 in Germany. It adds Precision Finding and a built-in speaker for locating a missing remote through Find My.

According to Apple’s announcement, the new remote works with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. Existing owners can therefore buy it without replacing their set-top box.

Precision Finding needs a compatible iPhone

Precision Finding requires an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air or iPhone 17 or later, excluding iPhone 17e, running the latest iOS software. Availability varies by region. Apple says Find My support also extends to second-generation and later Siri Remotes, but playing a sound is exclusive to the newest model.

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, announced on 13 October, includes the new remote. Buying it separately offers existing owners the new finding features without buying another Apple TV. Delivery estimates should be checked in the relevant regional Apple Store.
