Twelve South Airfly Drive brings wireless CarPlay to older cars for $39.99

Twelve South has launched Airfly Drive, a $39.99 adapter that brings wireless CarPlay to cars with factory wired CarPlay. The accessory is available in black and white and works with most vehicles that offer wired CarPlay, covering more than 75 makes with model years back to 2014.

The compact aluminium adapter plugs into a car’s USB-A port and includes a USB-C adapter in the box. Setup is plug-and-play with no app or account required, and the device supports two paired phones with a single button to switch between them. It automatically reconnects each time the car starts.

Airfly Drive is part of Twelve South’s existing Airfly line of Apple accessories, which previously focused on other wireless audio and car adapters. The company is known for premium Apple accessories, and the new adapter targets drivers who want wireless CarPlay without replacing their car or head unit.

Wireless CarPlay is significantly more convenient than wired CarPlay, particularly for short trips, according to 9to5Mac.
