Apple is preparing the most extensive in-store demo setup in its history for the iPhone Duo, with more than 150 units at its Fifth Avenue store, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman reported on 11 October. Preorders begin on 16 October and the phone goes on sale on 23 October.

At the Fifth Avenue flagship, more than 150 units will be on display; the Apple Park Visitor Center will have nearly 100, with 30–40 at other flagship stores and about 20 at smaller locations. A new MagSafe stand will hold an unfolded iPhone Duo alongside two standard iPhones, and some units will be placed without security tethers to showcase StandBy mode. Apple will also install a fixture that repeatedly opens and closes the device to attract attention. The iPhone Duo will be available in two colours. Apple has already released developer guidance for the device.

Gurman also expects Apple’s “Welcome home” launch on 13 October to cover the HomeView smart home hub, a new HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV, with HomeView released in mid-November.

The demo unit numbers may change before launch, and Apple has not disclosed specifications, pricing or colours for the home products.
