Apple’s HomeView smart home display will ship on 13 November with a set of faces that Apple names as Photos, Flow, Snoopy, Home Modular and Home Camera, according to Apple’s announcement.
- Photos turns the screen into a photo frame with Portrait-style depth effects; choosing a shared album lets friends and family add pictures from anywhere.
- Flow reacts to people’s presence and movement, turning the display into a piece of interactive art.
- Snoopy plays animations that follow the time of day, the weather, sporting events and holidays.
- Home Modular gives instant access to favourite smart home accessories.
- Home Camera can livestream up to nine camera feeds at once.
The interface also changes with the viewer’s distance, showing simpler information from across the room and more detail up close. The 7-inch Liquid Retina display adjusts its brightness automatically, from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits for use on a nightstand.
Where HomeView is available
Both the tabletop model and the wall-mounted model cost £299 in the UK and $299 in the US. Pre-orders are open in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the US, and in Singapore from 15 October, with both models available from 13 November. In South Africa, HomeView will be sold through Apple Authorised Resellers from the same date. HomeView is not on sale in the European Union, because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there, Apple says.
