The first teardowns of the iPhone Duo show a two-battery design adding up to 4,883 mAh, alongside Apple’s A20 Pro chip and C2 modem. Repair shop REWA Technology took the foldable apart in a teardown video on YouTube, and YouTube channel Phone Repair Guru posted a second teardown, MacRumors reported on 24 October.

The larger battery is a 2,962 mAh (11.56 Wh) cell and the smaller one is 1,921 mAh (7.5 Wh), one in each half of the device. Both are held in with electrically activated adhesive, so they can be released without prying. REWA Technology’s video includes a labelled breakdown of the logic board, which carries the A20 Pro and the C2 cellular modem, matching Apple’s technical specifications.

Phone Repair Guru found that the Touch ID button can technically be removed for repair, though it called the process difficult, and that the USB-C charging port appears to be fully modular. There is no SIM tray: Apple lists the iPhone Duo as eSIM-only in every region, with support for two active eSIMs.

Apple has also published an official iPhone Duo repair manual, and iFixit is expected to follow with its own, more detailed teardown. The videos add to earlier deep dives into the foldable’s design: CT scans showed the hinge’s six-section mechanism, which holds any angle from 15 to 145 degrees, and Apple detailed a graphite pipe routed through the hinge to cool the A20 Pro. Out of warranty, Apple charges $1,499 to repair the iPhone Duo.
