Jay-Z will finally step onto the stage he has helped shape for years: Apple Music, the NFL and Roc Nation announced on 26 October that the Roc Nation founder will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show. The game takes place on Sunday 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, in the Los Angeles area. The announcement came during ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast.
In the US, the show will air on ESPN, ABC and Disney+, with NFL+ carrying it on mobile devices. Spanish-language coverage runs on ESPN Deportes and Disney+, and Univision has its own separate Spanish-language presentation.
What Apple Music is doing
Apple Music has opened a “Road to Halftime” hub for Jay-Z with exclusive content and programming that will run through the season, made with the NFL. Apple Music Radio hosts Zane Lowe, Eddie Francis and Brooke Reese covered the news live straight after the reveal. Apple and the NFL style the artist’s name as JAŸ-Z in their materials.
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Music and International Content, said in the joint statement: “JAŸ-Z’s impact on global music culture is as profound as it is undeniable.” Jay-Z called the booking the end point of a 30-year run that started with his debut album: “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league first agreed to let Roc Nation produce the show, his only request was that Jay-Z would one day perform himself. Roc Nation will executive produce the telecast, with Hamish Hamilton directing.
