Apple has confirmed a second October launch: a “Pro and tell” event in Los Angeles on Wednesday 28 October at 10am PT. That is 5pm in the UK and 6pm in central Europe, because British Summer Time ends on 25 October, a week before US clocks change.

The date, venue and tagline come from the invitations Apple sent to the press on 19 October, which marketing chief Greg Joswiak also shared on X with the line “Can’t wait to pro and tell next week”. Apple has not said what it will announce, and it has not yet said whether the event will be streamed on apple.com.

It is Apple’s second launch in just over two weeks, after the 13 October “Welcome home” event that introduced HomeView, HomePod mini 2 and the new Apple TV 4K.

What is expected

Reports differ on whether the new MacBook Pro will be thinner and on whether the iPad mini gets a ProMotion display. Gurman has also said new Macs and the iPad mini could go on sale around 6 November. None of this is confirmed by Apple.

Why it matters

A touchscreen MacBook Pro would be the biggest change to Apple’s laptops in years and would reverse Apple’s long-held position against touch on the Mac. We will cover UK, EU and US prices and availability as soon as Apple announces them on 28 October.
