Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported in his Power On newsletter that Apple is close to launching an M6 iMac, with availability expected before the end of 2026. A Macworld article published on Monday says the unveiling could come on 27 or 28 October, possibly alongside M6 MacBook Pros, a touchscreen MacBook Pro and an updated iPad mini.

The iMac is expected to use the M6 chip built on a 2nm process, and Macworld says it should deliver up to 40 per cent faster CPU performance and double the GPU performance compared with the M4 iMac. The 24-inch design from the current model is expected to carry over with no major visual changes, though new colours are possible. Entry-level pricing is reported at $1,499 or higher.

The current M4 iMac launched in autumn 2024, and Apple appears to have skipped an M5 iMac entirely, as it did with the M2 generation. The M6 chip is Apple’s first 2nm processor; the M6 Mac mini introduced it in August and went on sale in September. A separate 32-inch iMac Pro remains unconfirmed and is not expected to launch alongside the M6 iMac.

Apple has not announced an M6 iMac, and the exact date, colours and final price are unknown. Whether the touchscreen MacBook Pro launches alongside the iMac also remains a rumour.
