Apple TV announced a new comedy-drama series, Lenni, with Oscar nominee Toni Collette in the lead role. Filming is under way in Sydney, and the show adapts the Norwegian series Pernille.
Collette plays Lenni, a divorced child-welfare worker and mother of two who is trying to protect her family after a family tragedy. Sarah Scheller adapted the series, and BAFTA and Emmy winner Dearbhla Walsh directs.
The ensemble cast includes Ciarán Hinds, Dan Wyllie, Josh McKenzie, Celeste Barber, Genevieve Hegney, Arka Das and Wayne Blair. Made Up Stories and Keshet International produce the series.
Screen NSW is backing the production through its Made in NSW Fund. Apple has not announced a premiere date or episode count.
Why it matters
Apple TV continues to build its comedy-drama slate with established talent. It follows the announcement of The Choir, starring James Corden and Ruth Jones.
