Two of Apple’s longest-serving display executives are stepping back from day-to-day management, and three engineers in wireless connectivity have been promoted to vice president, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported in his Power On newsletter on 25 October.

Wei Chen and John Zhong, both veterans of Apple’s display technology teams with around three decades at the company, are moving into advisory roles ahead of retirement. Victor Yin, who worked under both for years, has been prepared to take over a large part of their responsibilities. Chen also took charge of the Touch ID group in 2023 after its previous leader retired.

The three new vice presidents are Rajesh Ambati, Louie Sanguinetti and Derek Shaeffer, who all work on the technology that connects Apple devices to the internet and to each other. Sanguinetti is a long-time Apple employee in wireless hardware, AppleInsider notes.

The changes follow other moves since John Ternus succeeded Tim Cook as CEO in September 2026, including Steve Smith taking over Apple’s mergers and acquisitions team. Apple has not announced the changes itself, and no retirement dates for Chen and Zhong have been given.
