Code explorer Aaron Perris has discovered new features and hidden clues in the pre-release HomeView Software 27.2 update, the operating system for Apple’s upcoming smart home hub. The software, build number 24V514, was made available ahead of the device’s 13 November launch.
The update includes 20 default HomeView wallpapers, each offered in light and dark variants at a 1:1 aspect ratio. It also gives an early look at the HomeView’s face editing interface for selecting a Lock Screen design.

The software also contains a hidden graphic referencing HomeView Software 26, strengthening the theory that Apple originally planned to ship the hub last year but held back for Siri AI. Apple has explained why it needed Siri AI for HomeView. The code also suggests Apple tested the interface on a sixth-generation iPad mini.
Apple announced HomeView in October and is taking pre-orders now ahead of the 13 November release. It is not yet confirmed whether users can apply custom photo wallpapers, or precisely which screen the new wallpapers will decorate.
